Helping Makes U Happy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that aims to demonstrate how every human is capable of making a difference through volunteering; and inspire others to make a difference in their community. We believe that "doing good" not only helps the individuals in need, but has a positive affect on your own life as well.

Helping Makes U Happy is a not-for-profit public charity founded by a young man with Down’s Syndrome named Keith Caputo. Keith was fortunate to have had the experience of being mentored by a very special man who was committed to helping others, and this organization is Keith's way of paying it forward. Keith and his Board of Directors are dedicated to helping others, and to demonstrating how good that makes you feel. We host several fundraisers and community service projects. Our events always involve community participation as we strive to be family friendly and provide positive volunteering experiences for anyone who wants to participate.

“I love helping... it makes me happy, it makes the people we help happy. And, if just one person looks at what I do and says, ‘well if he can do it I can  too,’ then I can say maybe I’ve made a difference.”
- Keith Caputo, HMUH Founder

Donate

It is the generous donations of time and money that enable us to give back to the community, keep getting others involved and demonstrate our message of "Helping Makes U Happy."
No donation of time or money is too small, and is much appreciated!

We were please to be able to share these with many local food pantries.

We had a fantastic response to our Valentine's Day fundraiser to help kids with cancer. Thanks to Brothers 4 Pizza, Ice Cream Cottage, and Francis Fragola, $500 was raised. This money will be matched by HMUH and a $1,000 check will be donated to St Judes Hospital.

“PS I Love You Day” 2/9/24, is a day to wear purple, stand up against bullying, help end depression and ultimately prevent suicide.  This year HMUH donated $6,000 to sponsor a dog through Friends of Americas Vet Dogs. This dog will be a companion for an honorably discharged veteran.

We had a fantastic response to our annual scholarship fundraiser. All of our scholarships are funded! Congratulations to the Super Bowl Party Raffle Winners: Christine Milton and Courtney Fabian.
Thank you to the businesses that opened their doors to us for ticket sales: Brothers Four Pizza and TJ’s Heros of Mastic Beach. We are especially thankful for TJ’s, who always donates the food portion of our prize packages. We also greatly appreciate then generosity of the The Triangle Pub, who donates their space to us every year for the baskets auction portion of our fundraiser. A great time was had by all.
