On June 9, 2021, a blessing box was installed at St John the Baptist Church on Railroad Ave in Center Moriches ( the little red church). HMUH is going to be a sponsor of the box to help our neighbors in need incase they need a hand up when pantries are closed. If there are any groups- Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, clubs, etc - who’d like to sign up for a week at a time, monitoring the box and replenishing when needed- please let me know. It’s a good way to get community service hours and will for sure make your heart feel happy

After a busy summer of feeding families, Helping Makes U Happy, with the assistance of our amazing communities, has been busy putting together backpacks for students in need and “N-docket” children—those removed from home due to neglect.

Pictured is Zach Froberg, who saved his tips from his summer job and used them to purchase school supplies for HMUH. Two years ago, Zach did a summer service project for us where he collected and donated backpacks. And two years before that, his older brother did the same thing for us. It makes us feel so good when students are inspired to help, time after time!

In a few weeks, we’ll be assembling approximately 250 “comfort cases” we give annually to CPS for the N-docket children so they have something to call their own when they relocate. We are also continuing to maintain and look for volunteers to help fill the community Blessing Box located on Railroad Avenue in Center Moriches. At the current time, we have volunteers lined up through Sept. 7. It really is such an easy way to help your community and it makes you feel so good!

We are also optimistically planning for our casino night in early November, which will help us raise funds to provide for a happy holiday for our neighbors in need. Watch for more information on this event and how to participate at www.helpingmakesuhappy.org.

Lastly, we’d like to give a big thank you to everyone who helped us this summer in so many ways! You’re awesome! To all the students returning to school, we wish you a great and successful year!

Another GREAT and busy morning! Suffolk Federal Credit Union, our most favorite bank -they do so much to help in our communities -invited us to the main branch to pick up the proceeds for the food drive they did in all their branches for Helping Makes U Happy. It was their most successful food drive yet- 1,100 lbs of good! WOW- thank you amazingly generous members! The credit union also added to cash donations from members and surprised us with a check for $1,000. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU
